Official transfer to

Berlin Union

Hop. Root's transfer was officially announced today after completing his medical.

Speaking about Rothe's move, sporting director Sebastian Kell said, "After spending many years in our youth camp, he has previously gained valuable professional soccer experience at Kiel. Now he needs and wants to take the next step in the Bundesliga by playing as many minutes as possible. We wish him all the best for his stay in Berlin and the greatest personal and competitive success. We will closely follow his performance at Berlin United and look forward to his continued growth."

Rothe was loaned out to Holstein Kiel last season and made 33 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and helping his side to promotion to the Bundesliga. He completed the transfer formalities after leaving Dortmund's training camp for a medical in Berlin.

Root, who previously made four Bundesliga appearances for Borussia Dortmund's first team, had contributed one goal. Dortmund reportedly have a buy-back clause on Root's transfer, meaning the club have the chance to bring him back in the future.
