Borussia Dortmund left-back Tom Rothe has left the club to officially join Union Berlin. Rothe, 19, joined Dortmund's youth academy in 2021 and spent last season on loan at Holstein Kiel, making 33 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and helping his side to promotion to the Bundesliga.
After signing with Union Berlin, Rothe said, "I'm really looking forward to playing for Union Berlin, especially for the club's passionate fans. Union Berlin has a unique club culture that I can find an identity with. All discussions so far have been positive and the manager often uses a five-at-the-back formation, which I am very familiar and comfortable with from my time at Holstein Kiel."
