Argentinean media outlet Ole newspaper recently disclosed that Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez is about to reach a five-year transfer agreement with Atletico Madrid for a fee of around €80 million. The news has attracted widespread attention in the soccer world, as Alvarez's future destination as a young and promising striker has been in the spotlight.

Manchester City reportedly initially asked for a fixed fee of €70 million plus a €20 million floating clause for Alvarez. However, after negotiations between the two sides, Atletico are close to signing the Argentine star for €80 million. This price not only reflects Alvarez's market value, but also shows Atletico's determination to bring in the young striker.

It is worth noting that Alvarez rejected a contract extension with a pay rise offered by Manchester City three months ago. Atletico offered him a salary package comparable to City's contract after the pay rise, which is one of the major reasons why he chose to join Atletico. In addition, Atletico gave Alvarez greater autonomy in terms of player likeness rights, allowing him to own 100% of the likeness rights, which is undoubtedly more attractive compared to the allocation of 25% by the Manchester City club and 75% by the player.

Apart from salary package and likeness considerations, another important reason for Alvarez's move to Atletico Madrid was the family factor. His family's planned relocation to Madrid made him prefer to join a Spanish side. For players, family support and companionship is crucial, so this factor played a key role in the transfer decision.
