Four first-team players were 'cut' before the start of the new season - Ben Doak, Tyler Morton, Koumas and Harvey Blair. All four players made appearances in pre-season, but were returned to the U21s and played in the team's 5-2 warm-up win over Ipswich. In that game, Morton, Koumas and Blair all scored, with the other two goalscorers being Morrison and Cumetio.
Tyler Morton, 21, spent last season on loan at Championship side Hull City and performed well enough to attract interest from Serie A side Atalanta and Bundesliga side Leipzig. According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool value Morton at £20 million, while Ipswich, Southampton and Bournemouth have also shown interest. Morton could leave the club permanently this summer.
Meanwhile, Ben Doc is expected to leave the club on loan this summer to gain more game experience and growth opportunities.
In terms of reinforcements, Liverpool have yet to make any new additions this summer. Manager David Sloter has emphasized that the club will only sign players if they meet the "very high standards" needed to succeed at Anfield. Recent reports suggest that Liverpool have been linked with Real Sociedad midfielder Zubi Mendy, and the midfielder may be a potential target for Liverpool.
