There have been recent reports that
Liverpool (England)
Hoping to bring in a €60 million default clause by activating the
Real Sociedad (soccer team)
midfielder
Zubi Mendi (name)
to bolster the team's midfield lineup. Liverpool are optimistic about completing the transfer.
However, according to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, Zubimendi's transfer prospects are currently unclear. The journalist wrote on social media, "Zubimendi's departure to join Liverpool is currently unclear and he prefers to stay at Real Sociedad for a year. Expect to know the final outcome this Thursday, it's just been a bit of a busy night."
Zubimendi, 25, made 45 appearances for Real Sociedad last season, scoring four goals and contributing one assist. His current contract with Real Sociedad expires in the summer of 2027 and he is currently valued at around €50 million.
Liverpool boss Slotter wants his team to bring in a technical midfielder to improve the team's ball control and midfield control. Zubimendi is considered to be the ideal candidate to fulfill this requirement. However, the player himself seems to prefer staying at Real Sociedad, making the transfer prospect uncertain.
