Joining hands with Zhou Yafei, they demonstrated the outstanding strength of Chinese rock climbers.
Zhou Yafei was defeated by a Polish runner by 0.09 seconds in the Quarterfinals with a time of 6'58" and did not qualify for the Quarterfinals. Another Chinese athlete, Deng Lijuan, beat the Indonesian athlete by a thrilling margin of only 0.006 seconds with a time of 6 seconds 363 to advance to the quarterfinals.
In the ensuing semi-final, Deng Lijuan clocked 6:38, again narrowly beating another Indonesian runner by 0.03 seconds to advance to the final.
In the final, Deng Lijuan played well and set a personal best with a time of 6'18", finally winning the
silver medal
. This silver medal is the first medal won by a Chinese athlete in the Olympic rock climbing event, creating history for Chinese rock climbing.
The gold medal went to the world record holder, Poland's Alexandra Miroslaw, who won the crown with a time of 6 seconds 10. Deng Lijuan's performance not only demonstrated her personal strength and potential, but also won the honor for China's rock climbing sport in the international arena.
