Recently, an experienced soccer agent revealed to the Daily Telegraph the improper operation of some clubs in the transfer market, especially for the players whose contracts are about to expire to adopt the "renew or leave" strategy. The agent used the Gallagher transfer case, in which he was personally involved, as an example to deeply analyze the injustice and helplessness behind this phenomenon.

According to the agent, many clubs in today's soccer world seem to have abandoned the basic principles of respecting contracts and performing in good faith. When players reach the end of their contract year, they are often faced not with the support and encouragement of the team, but with the double pressure from the club: either to accept a new contract that may not meet their expectations, or to face the fate of being sold to another team. This "renew-or-go" strategy not only makes the player's career full of uncertainty, but also seriously undermines the fairness and order of the transfer market.

"Everyone is taught from a young age to honor their contracts." The agent lamented, "When the players signed that contract, which represented their professional commitment, with confidence, they never imagined that one day they would be in such a difficult situation because of that contract." However, reality has hit them hard. At the crucial moment of the contract year, clubs often no longer take into account the feelings and interests of the players, and instead prioritize maximizing their own interests.

The agent further pointed out that this "renew or leave" phenomenon not only harms the rights and interests of players, but also distorts the normal operation of the transfer market mechanism. "Clubs should respect the contract and the player's career choice." He emphasized, "If the players choose to renew their contracts, then both sides should negotiate based on the principles of equality and fairness; if the players decide to leave, then the clubs should also respect their decisions and help them realize the transfer through reasonable transfer methods."

Finally, the agent called on all clubs to revisit and improve their transfer practices and to treat players and the transfer market with more fairness, transparency and respect for contracts. Only in this way can we ensure the healthy development and prosperity of the soccer world.
