According to French media outlet Footmercato, Turkish
Fenerbahce (city in Italy)
commander-in-chief
Jose Mourinho (1961-), Portuguese soccer player
is trying to push the team to bring in a 36-year-old veteran
Nicolas Matic (1955-), French footballer
Mourinho's search for a stronger midfield continues. Mourinho continued his quest to strengthen his team's midfield after taking over Fenerbahce this summer, and Matic is the ideal candidate in his mind.
Mourinho and Matic have worked together many times at Chelsea, Manchester United and Roma, and the two have a deep professional relationship. However, Matic's sudden decision to insist on leaving Roma last summer had once affected their relationship. But now, Mourinho hopes to join hands with the experienced midfielder again to achieve better results for Fenerbahce.
Matic joined Ligue 1's Lyon in this year's winter transfer window on a contract that will run until 2026. Lyon are reportedly willing to sell Matic this summer and Fenerbahce are looking to capitalize on the opportunity to bring the veteran to the Turkish league.
If the transfer comes to fruition, it will be the fourth time Mourinho and Matic have worked together, and they will be looking to take on new challenges together and continue the special bond they have shared throughout their careers.
