Former Crystal Palace boss Simon Jordan has expressed strong pessimism about the future of current Manchester United manager Jurgen Ten Hagar during a recent appearance on talkSPORT. He is convinced that Ten Hagar is likely to be sacked before the upcoming January and pointed out that the Dutchman is not the ideal managerial candidate for United.
Simon Jordan has pointed out that United are reorganizing the club structure to provide more support for Temhag, but even so, he believes that Temhag lacks the ability to handle United's "untamable beast". He singled out Temhag's tactical and staffing shortcomings, particularly with regard to the choice of midfield partners, and felt that Temhag had failed to deal effectively with the team's defensive weaknesses.
Simon Jordan also criticized Ten Hagar's results in his two years in charge of United, finishing eighth in the league with a negative goal difference despite leading the team to win the 2023 League Cup and 2024 FA Cup. He believes that such a record is clearly a failing grade for a manager who has been in charge of United for two years.
In addition, Simon Jordan also mentioned the way Ten Hagar dealt with the media, arguing that he lacked enough caution and tact in some of his statements. He emphasized that as the manager of Manchester United, Ten Hagar needs to be more keen in observing the problems of the team and take appropriate measures to solve them instead of making statements in front of the media that are so ridiculous that they are unbearable.
