Newcastle midfielder Sindo Donnelly has been charged with illegal gambling by the President of English Football. Finally, there was a verdict. The club released a statement saying that the 23-year-old Italian international was sentenced to a two-month suspension by the President of English Football, but they were given a suspended sentence. As long as they don't commit another crime during their suspended sentence, they won't have to serve it, which means they can return to action on August 27 as scheduled.

Sindo Donnelly was heavily suspended for 10 months by the Italian FA at the end of October last year due to a wave of illegal gambling during his time with AC Milan, and had to attend an 8-month gambling course. Even if he moves to Newcastle, he will have to "sit on the bench". The disaster did not stop there, but in March this year, the English FA accused him of 50 illegal gambles after he joined Newcastle from August 12 to October 12, 2023, and he was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment.

After the Independent Commission heard the news, Sindo Donnelly pleaded guilty to the charge, which included four matches that had been down on Newcastle, all of which were bought on the wave of 'Magpies' wins, with a share of the top line in three of them. The Independent Commission will eventually fine Sindo Donnelly £20,000 (about HK$196,000) after he was suspended for 2 months.

This ruling is good news for Newcastle and Sindo Donnelly because they don't have to stop serving their two-month sentences as long as they re-offend. In other words, when they initially waited when the 'banning order' came to August 27th, you can come back. The new Premier League season starts on August 17th. It is expected that Sindo Donnelly will only miss the first 2-3 games of the season. It is reported that Sindo Donnelly is willing to take a pay cut as compensation to the club.
