Premier League sides may be fighting to the brakes for the title this year, but Manchester City won the battle between Mr. English Football first. Striker Phil Cotton overpowered Arsenal Deglan Rice and was elected this year's Mr. Football of England, the third time in the last four years that players in a department "Blue Moon" have been elected.
England footballers are produced by around 900 media votes. A total of 18 players received votes this season. Phil Cotton delivered 22 goals and 10 assists this season and received 42% of the vote. He was voted second to De Grand Rice, with Lodi Kasjandi, Martin Odigat and Onitsujins & Galpenma in third to sixth place. Meanwhile, the results for Miss Football England were announced and the player of the year was also from Manchester City, with City's women's soccer team, Kavdi Chasur, winning the award.
Looking over the records, the award has been monopolized by Manchester City and Liverpool players from 2017 to '18. Mohamed Shahna has been elected twice and former Reds captain Jordan Henderson once. City have won four awards in the last six seasons - Stanning, center-half Ruben Dyas, last season's Enin Shalant and Phil Cotton.
