With the absolute advantage of winning, successfully defending the title of the program, and created a new Olympic best score. This victory not only won the 30th gold medal for the Chinese army, but also showed the top strength of Chinese women's kayaking program.

At the Tokyo Olympic Games, Xu Shixiao/Sun Mengya won the championship with a time of 1:55.495, showing the outstanding skills of Chinese kayakers. At the Paris Olympics, they ranked first in their group in the semifinals with a time of 1:53.73 and advanced to the finals, once again setting a new Olympic best in the event and proving their dominance in the women's double sculls 500 meter event.

A total of eight pairs competed in the finals. In addition to Chinese pairs, pairs from Canada, Hungary, Poland, Ukraine, Spain, Cuba and Moldova also qualified for the finals. Among them, Spain and Canada have strong strength and are strong medal contenders.

Xu Shixiao/Sun Mengya started the final in lane 5 and quickly took over the lead at the start of the race. At 250 meters, the Chinese pair led the race with a time of 55:18, followed by the Canadian and Polish pair in second and third place respectively. In the final 250 meters, the Chinese pair further extended their lead, with Xu Shixiao and Sun Mengya going all out, almost a boat length ahead of their rivals.

In the final sprint, the Chinese pair had an unshakeable advantage and finally crossed the finish line with an excellent time of 1:52.81, successfully defending the title of the women's double sculls 500m event and creating a new Olympic best time, showing their absolute strength in the event. The Ukrainian pair and the Canadian pair won the silver and bronze medals respectively.

The victory of Xu Shixiao/Sun Mengya not only added honor to the Chinese delegation, but also injected new vitality into the development of Chinese kayaking events. Their wonderful performance at the Paris Olympics has inspired more Chinese kayakers to pursue excellence and compete for their country.
