Chen Yiwen and Chang Yanni jointly fought, and finally Chen Yiwen with a high score of 376 points overwhelmed the group and won the gold medal, realizing 10 consecutive Olympic crowns for the Chinese diving team in this item. This victory not only contributed the seventh gold medal for the Chinese diving team in this Olympics, but also the 31st gold medal for the Chinese delegation in the Paris Olympics. Australia's Madison won the silver medal with 343.10 points, while Chang Yanni took the bronze with 318.75 points.

A total of 12 competitors participated in the final round, with Yani Chang and Yiwen Chen making their debut at the 9th and 12th positions respectively. In the first round, both Chinese athletes chose the 405B (Inward Tumbling Two Weeks Half Bend) with a difficulty factor of 3.0. Chang Yani made a mistake in this jump and only scored 42 points, while Chen Yiwen collected 70.50 points with her decisive jump and almost perfect entry into the water, which put her in the top position after the first round.

In the second round of competition, Yanni Chang adjusted her condition and challenged 107B (Backward Tumbling Three-and-a-half Weeks with Knee Hug) with a difficulty factor of 3.1, and succeeded in scoring 69.75 points. Chen Yiwen chose 205B (Backward Tumbling Two and a Half Bends) and consolidated her lead with an outstanding performance of 76.5 points. At the end of the two rounds, Chen Yiwen was in first place with 147.00 points, while Chang Yani was in 11th place with 111.75 points.

In the third round, Yani Chang and Yiwen Chen challenged 205B (Backward Tuck Two and a Half Flexion) and 305B (Reverse Tuck Two and a Half Flexion), earning 67.50 and 75.00 points, respectively, with Yiwen Chen continuing to lead the way with 222.90 points.

In the fourth round of the duel, both Chang Yanni and Chen Yiwen opted for difficult maneuvers. Chang Yanni raised her total score to 254.25 with an outstanding performance of 75 points, while Chen Yiwen further extended her lead with a high score of 77.50 points, bringing her total score to 299.50 points.

In the final round, both Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen challenged 5152B (forward tumbling two and a half weeks turn one week flexion), Chang Yani performed solidly under pressure and collected 64.60 points, while Chen Yiwen took 76.50 points with a near-perfect performance, and finally won the championship with a strong total score of 376 points.

Chen Yiwen's victory is not only another milestone for the Chinese Diving Team in the women's 3-meter board event, but also demonstrates the outstanding strength and profound heritage of Chinese athletes in the field of diving.
