In a press conference ahead of the Community Shield, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola announced a major personnel change, confirming that striker Julian Alvarez will leave the team to join La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid. The news quickly attracted a lot of attention from the media and fans.

Guardiola began his conference by expressing his deep gratitude to Alvarez. "First of all, I would like to express my sincerest thanks to Alvarez." He said, "We love him for his professional attitude, his performance on the field and his contribution to the team. He is a talented player and an integral part of our team."

Speaking about Alvarez's decision to leave the club, Guardiola said he understands and respects the player's choice. "If he wants to leave for a new challenge then we will fully support him." He continued, "Atletico Madrid is a top club with a long history and brilliant achievements. I believe that there, Alvarez can continue to grow and realize his soccer dreams."

Guardiola also revealed why Alvarez made the decision. "He told me that he wanted a new challenge and felt it was something he needed to do." He explained, "Last season he played a lot of games, sometimes partnering Harland, but I also understand that in some moments he might not have gotten enough playing time. I have expressed my opinion to the club many times and the final decision is in the hands of the club. But I have also always emphasized that if a player is unhappy then they have the right to choose to leave."

Guardiola spoke highly of Alvarez's time at City. "I learned a lot from him." He said, "He is a very hard-working player who always gives his all in training and in games. I hope he finds what he is looking for at Atletico Madrid and continues to shine on the green."

Finally, Guardiola offered his best wishes for Alvarez's future. "We wish him all the best." He said, "Wherever he is, he will be part of our City family. We look forward to seeing him perform even better in the future."
