Aston Villa Football Club has rejected Fulham's first transfer offer for the team's center back Diego Carlos, according to a new report from The Athletic's renowned journalist Ornstein. Despite the fact that Carlos is one of the higher paid players in the Villa squad, the club have stated that they are willing to listen to offers for him under the right conditions, showing an openness to the possibility of the player's transfer.
In the recent past, Fulham Football Club has been actively seeking reinforcements due to the need for adjustments in the back line, especially after Adarabioyo's joining Chelsea and Tim Ream's transfer to Charlotte FC, they are in dire need of finding a new center back to solidify their defense. On Sunday, Fulham have managed to sign Villarreal center back Jorge Cuenca, but that doesn't satisfy all their needs for reinforcements at the back.
Fulham then set their sights on Diego Carlos and made an initial transfer offer to him. However, this offer did not meet Aston Villa's expectations and was therefore rejected. Despite the unsuccessful initial offer, negotiations between the two sides have not been broken off but continue to be ongoing, meaning that Diego Carlos' future remains fraught with uncertainty.
It is also worth noting that apart from Fulham, clubs in the Saudi League have also shown keen interest in Diego Carlos. The 31-year-old Brazilian center-back has become a target for several teams after showing excellent defensive ability and rich experience in the game in the Premier League.
