According to Football Daily.

Wu Lei (1979-), Chinese footballer

This season in

China Super League (soccer league)

has scored 28 goals in the league, a tally that puts him on track to become the

Eight mainstream leagues in Asia

Most goals scored in

Local Golden Boot

.. Wu Lei's 28 goals not only tied the South Korean K-League record for goals scored by a homegrown Golden Boot (Kim Do Hoon, 2003), but also surpassed the homegrown Golden Boot scoring records of Qatar (26 goals, Afif 2023/24), Australia (25 goals, McLaren 2020/21) and the Iranian league (24 goals, Nuruzzi 2010/11).

Currently, Wu Lei is facing a challenge from the homegrown Golden Boot records in the Saudi League, the UAE League and the Japanese League. The homegrown Golden Boot scoring record in the Saudi and UAE leagues is 33 goals, held by Idris (1999/2000 season) and Mabkhout (2016/17 season) respectively, while the homegrown Golden Boot record in the Japanese league is 36 goals, set by Masashi Nakayama in 1998.

It is worth noting that Mabhut and Masashi Nakayama are not only the local Golden Boot record holders in their respective leagues, but also the single-season goal record holders for all Golden Boots in their leagues. In comparison, Wu Lei has already surpassed all Golden Boot scoring records in the Australian A-League (27 goals) and the Iranian Premier League (24 goals), but in order to surpass the 35 goals in the Saudi League (held by Crowe), the 36 goals in the Japanese League, and the 39 goals in the Qatar League (held by Bunedjah), Wu Lei will need to rely on the continued outbursts of his own form, as well as the efficient support of his teammates, especially his five foreign supporters.
