When was the expansion to 16 teams?

The Swedish Superliga, or Swedish Premier League, is the highest level of professional soccer organized by the Swedish Football Association, which currently usually consists of 16 teams. The Swedish Superliga was expanded to 16 teams in the 2008 season. Prior to the expansion, there were 14 teams in the Swedish Superliga. Since the 2008 season, the league has expanded to 16 teams, with each team playing 30 matches per season, half home and half away. This format makes every game full of suspense and gives fans more opportunities to cheer on their favorite teams.
