A scandal has erupted at A-League powerhouse Shakespeare. Four star players were arrested by police on Tuesday (19) on suspicion of rape. Sarsfi announced the suspension of the four players during the investigation and froze their contracts.
The four people arrested were goalkeeper Schibastan Sousa, defenseman Gouffi, striker Ebir Osurio and Paraguayan midfielder José Corentin. The woman reported that on March 3, Schibastan Sousa was invited to a meeting at a hotel. Three other people were present at the time. The woman had been drinking and fell asleep. When she woke up, she realized she had been raped by four men. She suspected that her alcohol was drugged, so she reported the incident to the police.
Later, Sarsfield issued a statement: "The club is very concerned about this matter. The case involved is a clear violation of the club's principles and values. The team will fully cooperate with the court in the hope of revealing the truth. The contracts of the four players will be temporarily frozen while the investigation is underway."
