According to the latest report from The Guardian, a third offer from Premier League club Newcastle United for Crystal Palace defender Gueye has been rejected by the latter. The offer amounted to about 55 million pounds, but apparently still did not meet the expectations of Crystal Palace.
The report suggests that Crystal Palace, after rejecting the offer, have told Newcastle United that they would have to pay a "superstar price" to successfully sign the England defender. This further demonstrates Crystal Palace's firm stance on the value of Gueye and their determination not to let go of the potential player so easily.
It is worth noting that Gueye is currently assessed at €38 million in the German transfer market, while his contract with Crystal Palace has a considerable amount of time before it expires, in the summer of 2026. Such a contractual situation undoubtedly adds leverage for Crystal Palace in negotiations.
Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has also previously gone on record as saying that no offer from any team has yet reached their valuation. This statement re-emphasizes Crystal Palace's hardline approach to the Gueye transfer issue.
For Newcastle United, they obviously recognize Gueye's ability and are willing to pay a high transfer fee for it. However, in the face of Crystal Palace's resolute attitude, they may need to reconsider their offer strategy or look for other suitable targets.
