Porto were knocked out of the UEFA Europa League in the last 16 by Arsenal, and coach Sergio Ganscao was furious after the match, saying that Porto were the team that should have gotten out of the competition first. The Portuguese coach accused Arsenal leader Adi Da of insulting his dead relative during the match, but British media found out that Ganskaou complained about being insulted by another coach in recent years after losing to Premier League teams in the Europa League, and that the same accusation was leveled at Ducao and his brother Dionne.

Ganscao has been coaching Porto for seven years and has led the team to the last eight of the UEFA Europa League on two occasions, but he is deeply angry after this exit: "The result is so unfair, Porto should have been out of the competition. Adidas, during the game, used Spanish to insult my family on the bench, and he said that person is no longer here, and Adidas should focus on teaching his team well. Arsenal have since officially denied Ganscao's allegations.

The British media have found Ganscao's accusations to be "familiar", as after Porto's defeat to Manchester City in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals of the 20/21 season, Ganscao fiercely criticized Gaudiona: "I have a lot to learn from Gaudiona when it comes to putting pressure on the witnesses and attacking the opponents, and Porto are angels in comparison to them. Codiona insulted my country with ugly words, his attitude is very bad."

After Porto were knocked out by Chelsea in the last eight of the UEFA Europa League in the same season, Ganscao fired another shot at Chelsea's leader Tuco: "I was insulted by this man, my English is not perfect and I didn't have a problem with Tuco, so I don't know why he reacted the way he did. I heard him say insulting words, and they were very bad words." Chelsea also denied the allegations.
