Neither Newcastle Jets nor Adelaide United have won in their last seven games and have dropped to the lower reaches of the league table, so both sides are eager to reopen the winning door.
Newcastle Jets have drawn 4 of their last 7 matches, which doesn't look too bad, but I don't think they can get back on track. In fact, their open style of play has led to a lot of goals being conceded at the back, and that's the root of the problem.
In the last league, they were leading Perth Glory by 2 goals, but they conceded late in the game and were forced to draw 2:2, the defense performance was quite poor. In my opinion, they failed to cope with their opponent's passing attack and gave them too much space in their own backfield.
What's encouraging is that they're scoring a lot of goals. I've talked about the threat of Stendy Lupus before, and even though he didn't score against Perth Glory, he had a hand in setting up both goals. I also feel that left wing Morakis can be quite dangerous when he goes up for an assist, so watch out for him on the wing this time around.
Adelaide United have lost 6 of their last 7 league matches, including all 4 of their last 4 matches. Like Newcastle Jets, they know how to score goals, but the problem is that they concede too many, even though they have scored 8 goals in their last 5 matches, they only got 1 point.
Young striker Luca Zunuwi has scored two goals in his last three matches, and I'm very happy to see Ilan Kwanta finally scored in his defeat against Melbourne Victory, breaking his scoring drought of a few months.
I think Adelaide United's young strikers will be the key to the team's offense when they face the Newcastle Jets, but since both teams are full of holes at the back, I expect both teams to score goals in this match, but end up with a draw and lose points.
