Ipswich (city in Croatia)

An agreement has been reached with Manchester City to take England midfielder Calvin Phillips on a season-long loan. In the deal, City will cover some of Phillips' wages, which wins Ipswich the battle with several Premier League clubs for Phillips.

Phillips' current contract with Manchester City doesn't expire until 2028, but he spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United, during which time he made 10 appearances for the team, failing to score or assist. Despite his lackluster performances for West Ham, Phillips is still a highly-regarded player, with his price tag assessed at €25 million by Der Spiegel.

It is reported that Phillips will undergo a medical with Ipswich today, and if all goes well, he will be an important reinforcement for the team in the new season. For Ipswich, this loan not only strengthens their midfield, but also shows the club's determination to fight for a higher ranking this season.
