Junya Ito, who was forced to withdraw from the team during the Asian Cup amid rumors of sexual assault, has launched a counter-attack, filing a lawsuit through his attorney against the two women who reported that he sexually assaulted them, claiming that their false allegations caused damage to his reputation, and claiming 200 million yen (about 10.5 million Hong Kong dollars) in damages.
"According to Nikkan Sports, Junya Ito was accused of sexual assault by two women during the Asian Cup, who claimed to have had sex with him unwillingly in June last year. Though he denied it, he was eventually forced to withdraw from the national team under pressure, and Japan subsequently exited the tournament in the last 8 rounds.
