The K-League is a South Korean professional soccer league consisting of 12 teams divided into two phases: the regular season and the playoffs.The K-League's standings are based on the number of points scored, with the top three teams advancing to the group stage of the AFC Champions League at the end of each season.

The FA Cup is played by the K-League N-League and some K3 League teams, while the K-League Cup only allows professional K-League teams to participate. In 2013, the professional league was split into two, the first tier "Pro Soccer Classic League" and the second tier "Pro Soccer Challenge League", each with 14 teams. The former K2 League was relegated to the K3 League.
