The Olympic men's soccer tournament's
entry requirements
There are two main ways to get there: host qualification and qualifiers. Taking this Olympics as an example, France, as the host, will get a direct seat for its men's soccer team. So how do teams from other countries and regions qualify?
Apart from the hosts, men's soccer teams from other countries and regions will have to compete for the remaining spots through qualifying rounds. Below is the specific qualifying format and allocation of places:
continent
: 3.5 seats will be awarded, with the fourth seat coming through a play-off with the Asian Football Confederation NOC.
North and Central America and the Caribbean
: 2 seats will be created through the region's U-20 tournament.
South America
: 2 seats will be available.
Asian
: 3.5 seats will be awarded, with the fourth seat coming through a play-off with the CAF NOC.
European
: Three seats will be available.
Oceania
: 1 seat will be available.
Through these qualifiers, the best teams from each region will have the opportunity to represent their country and region in the men's soccer competition at the Olympic Games, showcasing their soccer skills and athleticism.
