In an interview with Goal, Manchester United's legendary goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel made an in-depth analysis of the performance of last season's goalkeeper Onana, and put forward his own expectations and opinions on Manchester United in the new season.

First of all, Schmeichel felt sorry for Onana's experience last season, and thought that his performance had been affected to some extent. "I think onana had some bad luck last season," he said. "On the one hand, the team's defense is unstable, which is a big problem for goalkeepers. Even if you are the best goalkeeper in the world, if the defense line can't give enough support, you will get into trouble. On the other hand, his goal conceded against Bayern is really unlucky, and this kind of mistake is often infinitely magnified in clubs like Manchester United."

However, Schmeichel also sees improvements and positives in Onana. "I have noticed that he has improved significantly in many aspects, especially he seems to be enjoying the game more and more," he added. "Enjoying the game is an important prerequisite for becoming a good goalkeeper. Of course, he needs help like other goalkeepers, especially from the frontcourt defense. If he can get such support, I believe he will become a world-class top goalkeeper."

Schmeichel is cautiously optimistic about Manchester United's prospect of winning the championship in the new season. "It may be inaccurate to say'expectation '. I prefer to see them make substantial progress and better results," he said. "I certainly hope they can win the Premier League championship, but I don't think it's easy to achieve. Judging from the transfer window, we haven't done much better than our competitors. Although we have made some efforts, the injury problem is still a hidden danger. The injuries of Hoylen, Yoro and Luke Shaw have undoubtedly brought new challenges to the team."

Finally, Schmeichel talked about the upcoming first round of the Premier League. "The game against Fulham is always regarded as a good opportunity to start," he said. "But we must understand that there is no easy game in the Premier League. This game will be a tough battle, and it will make us clearly understand where we are at present. We need to go all out to get a good start."
