The English Premier League (EPL) powerhouse Manchester United (MU) has reached an agreement with American semiconductor maker Qualcomm to provide an annual £60 million (HK$590 million) shirt chest advertisement sponsorship deal, which will come into effect next season, and is on a par with Real Madrid's record for the "Most Expensive" shirt chest advertisement, according to a report in the UK's The Sun.
United's current sponsor is German technology company TeamViewer, both sides signed a five-year contract in 2021, with an annual sponsorship fee of 47 million pounds, but in December last year, a "termination" agreement was reached, which gives United the right to repurchase its "heart" once it has secured new sponsorship to work with a new sponsor.
It has been reported that United have already secured a partnership with Qualcomm, and next season's shirts will bear the name of Qualcomm's Snapdragon subsidiary, with an annual sponsorship fee of 60 million pounds, second only to Real Madrid's 80 million euros (about HK$670 million) per annum.
