Argentina's "King of Balls" Mays is on his way to a second North American title! On Thursday (24) morning, InterMiami was down by two goals in the USL Cup quarterfinals, but thanks to a pair of superb assists from Mays, the match ended 3-3 after 120 minutes of play. InterMiami beat FC Cincinnati by 12 yards in the shootout to reach the finals, where they will play for the title against Houston-Dynamo on Sept. 27th.

After winning the North American League Cup last Sunday (20), Inter-Miami had a tough time visiting FC Cincinnati, with Mays getting the better of their opponents, and Inter-Miami conceded two goals in the 18th and 53rd minutes. The game was on the verge of a draw, but the frozen Mays stepped up to the plate, not scoring but assisting. In the 68th minute, Mays took a penalty kick from the left side of the field, which was headed in by Lee Annandale Gambina.

InterMiami, who had been struggling to create chances, finally scored in the seventh minute of extra time when Mays advanced down the left side of the field and fired a shot into the penalty area, which once again landed right on top of the head of Lee Annandale Gambina, who scored easily. Only three minutes into the extra time, Zusuf Martinez scored in the penalty area to put InterMiami back in front, but FC Cincinnati showed their strength as the "East Coast's No. 1 team" by tying the game at 3-3 in the 114th minute.
