In an interview with Danish media outlet TV2 Sport after his move to Manchester United, Herlander talked about his love for the club, revealing a photo of himself wearing a Manchester United shirt, as well as a piece of writing he did when he was 10 years old called "My Volition", which reads, "My goal is to play for the Danish national team and Manchester United.
