Manchester United's £72 million (about HK$720 million) acquisition of Danish striker Herlander was earlier revealed to be injured and will miss the first two rounds of the season. However, according to the Daily Mail, Herlander's injury turned out to be an inside story, as an MRI found that he had a pressure reaction on his back spine, which is a hidden injury that requires very careful treatment and work and rest arrangements, and therefore, Herlander will have to control his playing time at the beginning of the season, and "one week, two games" would not have been tolerated. The "1-week doubleheader" is not affordable.

The 20-year-old was found to have a stress reaction in his backbone during his fitness test for Manchester United. If left unattended, the condition could deteriorate into a stress fracture, which is common among young players, and has to be handled with extreme care. Apart from missing the first two rounds of matches, Herlander will reportedly not be scheduled for a 'double week' at the start of the season, and his playing time will also be strictly controlled.
