Saudi Arabian football clubs have been on a recruitment spree this summer, taking in a large number of top players from Europe, with Premier League rivals Liverpool one of the most affected clubs. Gopper, the leader of the club, has publicly expressed his concern that the transfer window in Saudi Arabia is particularly long, and called on the UEFA and the FIFA to take action as they fear that Europe's football world will be "messed up" in September.
The summer transfer window for the major European leagues ends on September 1, but the Saudi transfer window is open until September 20, meaning that if the Saudis poach a player in September with a high salary, the selling team won't have a chance to find a replacement. Gopp said: "Saudi Arabia's money has a big impact on the football world, and the worst thing is that the Saudi transfer window is three weeks longer than in Europe, so the European Football Association (EFA) and the International Football Association (FIFA) need to find a solution.
