Serie A powerhouse Napoli have reached an agreement with Premier League giants Manchester United over the signing of midfielder Scott McTominay, according to renowned journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic. The deal, which has a transfer fee of around €30 million, shows Napoli's strong interest in and recognition of the Scotland international.

David Ornstein further noted that although the deal is close to completion, all parties still need to agree on the player's personal terms. This means that details such as the player's salary, the duration of his contract and possible add-ons still need to be further agreed upon. However, reports so far suggest that negotiations between the two sides in this regard are progressing well and the deal is expected to be officially announced soon.

Another prominent transfer journalist, Romano, has followed up on the news, confirming that Napoli are close to finalizing a deal for McTominay and stressing that the deal is separate and unrelated to the negotiations for another player, Gilmour. This is further proof of Napoli's separate interest and pursuit of McTominay.

It is reported that the United side has accepted a new offer of over €30 million from Napoli, showing their positive attitude towards the deal. At the same time, negotiations with the player side on personal terms have also entered the final stage, which means that the two sides have reached a consensus on the core terms of the contract, just waiting for the final details to be finalized.

For Manchester United, the departure of McTominay will free up salary space and may prompt them to look for new midfielders in the transfer market to strengthen their squad. For Napoli, the addition of McTominay will undoubtedly improve the team's midfield strength, adding new weight to their competition in Serie A and Europe.
