According to a new report by Chris Wheeler, a senior reporter for the Daily Mail, it is unlikely that the much-anticipated deals for Ugarte to join Manchester United and for McTominay to move to Napoli will go through today. The news has certainly poured cold water on fans who were looking forward to these two deals.
Chris Wheeler points out that despite the news that Ugarte will travel to Manchester today to undergo a medical with Manchester United, and that an agreement has been reached on a fixed transfer fee of €50m and a €10m floating clause, for some unknown reason the deal has not progressed as quickly as expected. Similarly, McTominay's deal to join Napoli is in a similar predicament, and although the transfer fee has been finalized at €30 million and the deal is in the final stages, it seems highly unlikely that the deal will be completed today.
It is reported that McTominay is still staying in Manchester, which further increases the likelihood of the deal being postponed. Even if Ugarte is able to fly from Paris to Manchester, he may not be able to complete all the necessary medical procedures today due to time constraints. All of these factors have made the transfer seemingly about to be finalized a lot more confusing.
This is certainly a frustrating news for both clubs, Manchester United and Napoli. They had both hoped to enhance their team's strength and competitiveness through these two deals, but now it seems that they may need to be more patient and wait.
Fans have also expressed their disappointment over the postponement of the two deals. They were looking forward to seeing Ugarte and McTominay show their talents and strengths in their new teams, but the reality has forced them to keep waiting.
