Binfiga has officially announced the return of 'Angel' Di Maria to the nest, and accompanied by chairman Ray Costa, held an exceptional welcoming ceremony where thousands of fans gathered outside the home stadium to celebrate and welcome Di Maria home.
The 35-year-old Di Maria played for Benfica from 2007-10, which was also his starting point in Europe, and has since played for Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain, before leaving the team after one season at Juventus last season, and ultimately deciding to return to his starting point and rejoin Benfica.
The "Angel" is a decorated player of Binfiga, and this time he returned to his home club as a World Cup winner. More than 2,500 fans were present at the welcoming ceremony, and Di Maria said: "Thank you everyone, I know that this kind of honor is not common in Binfiga, and the feeling that I'm home is unparalleled. I've been invited to a lot of places before and I decided to come home, it was a decision I made in my heart. Di Maria will earn 5 million euros a year at Benfica, with a signing-on bonus of 4 million euros.
