With German midfielder Gundogan moving to Barcelona this summer, City have lost one of their core players on the pitch and one of their leaders in the dressing room. After Ferrandino, David Schwarz and Giovanni, City will have to replace their captain for the fourth time in the past five years, and the fans' voting shows that Portuguese midfielder Rubin Dias is regarded as the most suitable successor of the captain.

The Manchester Evening News held a poll earlier to ask fans to choose their favorite candidate for City's new captain, and the result was that 47.2% of the votes went to Rubin Dyas, overshadowing Chieuwendibuyani with 34.9% of the votes, while Spanish midfielder Rodrigo Casciandi ranked 3rd with 13.8% of the votes. Rubin Dyas is only 26 years old but has been at the heart of City's defense for three years, making him an ideal candidate for the long-term captaincy.
