During the Danish national team training, Lazio striker Gustav Isaksen gave an interview to the media, where he candidly shared his recent experiences and feelings at the club, especially the complicated relationship with former manager Igor Tudor, and his positive assessment of the new manager Maurizio Sarri (assuming that Baroni was misreported as it was Maurizio Sarri who actually took over as Lazio manager).
Isakson began by reflecting on his time working with Tudor, stating that there were indeed some moments of discord between the two. "We did have some challenges in working with Igor Tudor and it felt like he expected a different style of player from me." He confessed, "Although I think I showed good performances under him as well, the feeling of not fitting in perfectly did cause some frustration. It was a bit of a shock for me especially when I lost out on playing opportunities at a crucial stage in the run-up to the Euros."
However, with the closure of the summer transfer window and a change in the team's coaching staff, everything seems to have turned around. "A lot has changed at the club over the summer and we have a new manager, which gives me renewed hope." Isakson enthused, "The arrival of the new coach (Sarri) has brought a new energy and tactical philosophy to the team, and I think he has done a fantastic job. In the pre-season, I feel in excellent shape and I'm getting better and better with the team."
Talking about the most recent game against AC Milan, Isakson couldn't hide his joy. "In that game I got the chance to come on as a midfield replacement and I think I did quite well." He said, "It gave me a lot of confidence and made me look forward to every future game at Lazio even more. I'm sure I'll get more chances to play as the season progresses and contribute more goals and assists to the team."
Looking ahead to the new season, Isakson is full of anticipation and confidence. "I'm sure my second year at the club will be even better and more interesting as I've gotten to know everything here better." He said, "I aspire to be an important player for Lazio and I believe that through my hard work and the coach's trust, I will be able to achieve this goal. Let's all look forward to a new season full of challenges and opportunities!"
