During the national team press conference, midfielder Modell spoke on a number of topics, including the retirement of teammate Szczesny, his own future at Brighton Football Club, his current state of health, and his outlook on the upcoming match against Scotland.
On Szczesny's retirement, Moder expressed his deep respect and sadness. He praised Szczesny as a Polish
legend of the national team, considers him to be the Polish
One of the best goalkeepers in soccer history. Modell said that Szczesny's departure saddens the whole team as he was an integral spiritual leader and a great teammate in the dressing room.
Speaking about his future at Brighton, Modell revealed what the coach expects from him. Despite the fact that he missed a lot of training due to injury during the preparation period before the Europa League, the coach still wants him to stay at the club and be part of the team. Modell said that he will cherish this opportunity and give his best when the coach needs him.
Regarding his current state of health, Modell confessed that he missed the preparation period due to injury and lacked experience and rhythm in the game. However, he emphasized that he has not forgotten how to play football and will try his best in the matches arranged by the coach. Although his body may not be at its best yet, Modell said he will give his best to contribute to the team.
Speaking about his position on the field, Modell said that he adjusts his position in different matches depending on the opponent and tactical needs. He mentioned that he played a typical number six position against France at Euro 2024, a position that suits him and can play an important role in defensive counterattacks. However, he also said that he will try to create more offensive chances against weaker opponents. Modell also emphasized the strength of his team's midfield, stating that they are strong enough to swap positions, while he personally prefers to play further back and control the tempo of the game.
Finally, Modell looks ahead to the match against Scotland. He believes that Scotland will adopt a high-intensity defensive strategy from the very beginning of the game and will play one-on-one defense on the pitch. Therefore, he reminded his teammates to be careful not to lose the ball easily in the midfield, so as not to leave the opponents a chance to counterattack. Modell said that there is still time for the whole team to fully prepare and believes that they will make the best use of the time and strive for victory.
