Attended Drexel University, where he averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds per game, leading his team to the national stage and its only win, a 75-63 victory over Memphis. He also earned a dual degree from Drexel (Computer Information Systems and Education) and was a part-time coach for a local Philadelphia elementary school basketball team.

Early Experience: In 1996, Rose was drafted in the 2nd round, 15th overall (44th overall) by the Charlotte Hornets and was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in 1997.
Spurs period:
With the Spurs, Rose grew into a major role player. He won two NBA championships with the team in 1999 and 2003. On the team, he supported the interior of the team with his strong body and aggressive defense. In 2002, he signed a seven-year, $42 million contract.
