In his latest podcast, Three Up Front, Liverpool legend Souness gives an insight into the future of two of the team's key players who are about to enter their contract years - Arnold and Van Dyke - and makes it clear that he believes Real Madrid is the ideal home for the two stars.
Souness spoke highly of Arnold, saying that his style of play and passing ability fit perfectly into Real Madrid's tactical system. "Arnold's passing is incredible, his vision and precision are world-class." Souness said, "What's more, his friendship with Bellingham could also be a driving factor for him to join Real Madrid. If Arnold decides to leave Liverpool, I find it hard to imagine a better place for him than Real Madrid." Furthermore, Souness hinted that Arnold may have communicated his desire to leave to the club, noting that the Liverpool side may have accepted the fact that he will be free to leave the club at the end of the season.
As for Van Dyke, Souness likewise expressed his high approval and is confident he can still perform at a high level in the top flight. "Van Dyke is no longer young, but his experience and ability are still impeccable." Souness said, "He is even more capable than Real Madrid's current star center back Rüdiger in terms of overhead kicks and ball control. If Van Dyke chooses to leave Liverpool, Real Madrid is undoubtedly the ideal platform for him to be able to continue to improve himself and stay at the top of his game."
Souness further analyzed Liverpool's situation and believes that the club is unlikely to let go Salah, Van Dyke and Arnold at the same time, the three core players whose contracts expire in a year. "Liverpool need to maintain the competitiveness of the team, they will not easily let so many key players leave the team at the same time." Souness said, "But considering the strength and potential of Arnold and Van Dyke, if they really decide to leave, Real Madrid will be their smartest choice."
