The author's personal notes on the game are shared, and I have accumulated enough content and ideas to share them in the hope that those who didn't watch the game can get a general idea of what happened, and avoid accidentally turning it into a running gag just for the sake of writing it. Since the content is relatively spontaneous, and the number of matches may make it lengthy, we'll just pick our favorite teams to watch! If you like it, please share it, and if there are any mistakes, please don't hesitate to comment on them!

Also, I have my own team to support, Manchester City.

Brighton

I will try to keep a neutral point of view when writing about the two teams, but it is very likely that I will unconsciously favor that team, so please forgive me! In contrast, I'll also try to keep a neutral point of view when I write about Manchester City.

It's been two weeks since the heartbreaking defeat at Binford, and Manchester United

The passing game is showing some signs of improvement. The backfield knows how well they and their teammates can protect the ball, and in turn, where their limits are for playing with fire; the frontcourt has more overlap runs, and long offensive possessions have more of a Ten Hag multiple-player involvement in the offense to suppress the opponent's look.

However, they still have a lot of areas that need to be strengthened. Due to McTominay's ineffectiveness in pushing forward in conjunction with the wing, United

Most of the advances will need to rely on Martinez, Eriksen to fight for the second possession after a long pass.

After arriving at the front, the wingbacks were conservative at the beginning, often standing on the same line with the center backs to help pass the ball, which made them slow to insert support. Moreover, the two wingers were in a hurry to break through after holding the ball, and the attackers did not know whether to be simple and direct, or to be patient and attacking, which looked a bit awkward.

A Dalot cross was followed by 3 or 4 consecutive shots that were deflected by the Saints defense, and other than that attack, there was no other threatening offense in the first half.

Instead of showing the pressurized huddle of Ten Hag soccer, several waves of second-half attacks featured the smooth short-passing breakthroughs of Arsenal skipper Arteta soccer:

Southampton's offense was able to create a number of chances on goal, both during the deadlock in the first half and during the comeback phase in the second half. On the counter-attack, they were always able to find teammates to participate in the attack to maintain the speed of the fast attack (also reflected in the United).

(lack of ability to get on the ball, sweep and recover possession in the midfield); long possession rounds were also able to work the wings to create openings and crosses to find teammates in front of the goal to attack (27-12 passes in the game in favor of Southampton). Only a sporadic threat, but still able to match United overall

Engage in a 50/50 wave of confrontation.

Manchester United Football Club

Continuing the elements of the previous round's keeper: no fire at the back, key defense in the box, and simple attempts at counterattacks to keep the threat alive. From the fall to the end of the game, Southampton had an absolute advantage of 10-0 in shots on goal, but only 2 of them were on target. In the end it failed to produce a goal, not even a BIG chance.

Mara's injury-time reverse hook was cleared by Dalot on the goal-line before United

Collect a shutout and take away a road win.

Two set-pieces for Crystal Palace, two pinpoint crosses for Eze, an ouchie with an element of luck, and one for Manchester City.

A serious blemish of poor marking saw a huge 2 goal advantage in the first 20 minutes of the game. Thereafter, Eze came up with a goal against Liverpool

With the same consistent ball protection as in the previous game, and with more help from Ayew in this game, Edouard's backside possession had a way of holding up his teammates who came up to meet him. 27 minutes in and a threatening long range shot from Doukoure kept up the pressure, and it looked as if the Eagles were unaffected by the absence of Zaha's injury.
