Paul Mangan, assistant coach of England's First Division (EFL) Stockport Football Club, is set to join the coaching staff of La Liga giants Real Madrid, according to leading sports media outlet The Athletic. The news was promoted by Davide Ancelotti, the son of current Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, who deeply recognized Mangan's experience and ability in English soccer and recommended the young coach to his father.
Mangan, who has been working as an assistant coach at Stockport since July this year, has been snapped up by Real Madrid thanks in large part to his deep relationship with Davide Ancelotti. According to reports, the Ancelotti father and son had been looking for an English-born coach with extensive experience in the English Football League to bolster Real Madrid's coaching team. Mangan not only fits the bill but is seen as a worthy partner by Davide.
Mangan is currently waiting for the approval of his labor permit to set a date when he can officially join the Real Madrid coaching staff. If all goes well, the 38-year-old coach will soon arrive at the Bernabeu Stadium as part of the Real Madrid coaching team.
Mangan's coaching experience is quite extensive and he has a good reputation in English soccer. Back in 2019, he joined the first-team coaching staff at Fleetwood Town Football Club, where he gained valuable experience. Then, in 2021, he followed Joey Barton in joining Bristol Rovers to continue his role as first-team coach. More notably, at the end of 2023, Mangan also briefly served as interim manager of Bristol Rovers, further proving his coaching ability and leadership.
The Mangan native expressed both excitement and anticipation at the news of his imminent joining of Real Madrid. He knows that this is a high recognition of his coaching ability and an important step in his career. Working at a top club like Real Madrid will provide him with more opportunities to learn and grow, and will help him further improve his coaching level.
Real Madrid have also welcomed the addition of Mangan, who they believe will further strengthen the team's coaching staff and bring more tactical changes and competitiveness to the team. In future matches, we are expected to see Mangan working closely with Ancelotti and other coaches to fight for Real Madrid's honor.
