After being loaned out to Nottingham Forest, he publicly blasted the Red Devils for spoiling his soccer career, criticizing the club for violating their promise to promote him as a regular, and also revealed that he refused to meet with new manager Tannhäuser, and didn't even want to show him his soccer practice in order to get out of there as soon as possible.

Dion Henderson, who is on loan at Forest this season, said:

Last year I was promised that I would be the No.1 goalkeeper of the club after the Europa League, and because of that promise I turned down a lot of attractive loan requests, but it turned out that no one followed through on that promise, and at my age it's a crime to waste 12 months of your time being a backup, and I'm really angry about that.

The 25-year-old Dion Henderson refused to meet with the new manager, Tannhäuser, in order to avoid being cheated again: "I don't want to talk to the new manager (Tannhäuser), I don't even want to let him see me practicing because I know that he will probably want to keep me around, and I've told the senior management that I want to leave the team and I won't accept to sit on the board again, so I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do it before the new manager comes," he said.
