Is Deportivo La Coruna a La Liga team?

Is Deportivo La Coruna in La Liga?

Deportivo La Coruna is now playing in the second division of the Liga MX. The team has played in La Liga and won the La Liga title.

Real Deportivo La Coruna is one of only nine teams in all of Spain to have won the La Liga title. It has a history of over one hundred years since it was founded in 1906. In 2000, Deportivo La Coruna won the La Liga title in the year 2000, breaking the situation where only Barcelona and Real Madrid had been competing for the league title for many years. With this, La Coruna began to play at the highest club level in Europe, and the peaks came again, including one of the most incredible comebacks in the history of the UEFA Champions League - a 4-0 victory over defending champions AC Milan at the Riazor.

1940 was a memorable year in the history of the La Coruña team. After beating Murcia 2:1, La Coruna finally qualified for the first time in the first division. In the first season, the team finished fourth, so the club decided to build a new home stadium, which was completed in 1944 and received the name "Riazor", a name that would later become famous in Europe. However, the team had many difficulties in the league and in 1945 it was relegated to the second division.

Deportivo La Coruña hovered between the first and second divisions. It wasn't until the 1949-50 season that they achieved their best result in 44 years: second place in the league.

In the 1999-2000 season, under the leadership of Coach Irureta, La Coruña went all the way to the top, eventually winning the title at home against Espanyol in the final round of the league. This is the only La Liga trophy the team has won so far.

In the following years, the team grew stronger with the addition of Super Lacos members Diego Tristan and Bellelong. By the end of the 2004 season, the team had been a consistent performer in the past ten years in La Liga, finishing second four times and third four times, in addition to winning the title once. In the UEFA Champions League, the team participated in five consecutive competitions, and in the 2003-2004 season, the team completed a come-from-behind victory over AC Milan to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, before losing by a single goal to Porto, the eventual champion of the Portuguese team that year.

that's all...
