In a recent article by Marçal Lorente, a veteran journalist for El Mundo Deportivo, he sharply criticized FC Barcelona president Laporta for deliberately creating conflict within the club and disrupting the team's harmony, pointing out that Laporta's handling of the issue was disappointing, as evidenced by the departure of the decorated coach Xavi, who left in an elegant manner, forfeiting part of his salary and suffering undue humiliation. Xavi, a decorated coach who led the team to win the league and the Super Cup, not only gave up part of his salary in an elegant manner when he left, but also endured undue humiliation, which is undoubtedly a disregard and disrespect for his contribution.
More worryingly, Lorente observed that Laporta's demands on current manager Frick seem to have deviated from the competitive level, no longer purely pursuing victory but overemphasizing work effort, which has somewhat weakened the coaching team's desire and pursuit of victory. What is more outrageous is that Frick has also become the target of certain media attacks, with these irresponsible reports slandering the image of the successful coach, while Laporta, as the club's president, has failed to effectively defend the rights and reputation of the coaching team.
Lorente emphasized that Barça, as a club with an illustrious history and a huge following, should be full of unity and collaboration, not fratricide. He called on Barça people not to use "friendly fire" against each other, and not to differentiate between "good" and "bad" fans based on their loyalty to the management. Such divisiveness will only weaken the club as a whole and jeopardize its long-term interests.
As the club's president, Lorente believes that Laporta should be tasked with uniting the Barcelona camp and promoting inclusive dialog. However, the reality is that Laporta has consolidated his position by creating conflicts, constantly shirking his responsibilities, and even blaming the former president, the former coach, and innocent members for no reason. This approach has not only hurt the club's image, but also chilled the hearts of many Barça people.
Lorente concluded on a somber note, noting that the undignified departure of legends like Messi, Coman and Xavi from the club is undoubtedly a shameful "achievement" under Laporta's rule. He called on the Barcelona management to reflect deeply, to rediscover the pure love of soccer and a sense of responsibility for the future of the club, and to work together to rebuild a united, strong and full of hope Barcelona Football Club.
