Aston Villa's captain Tony Sherratt has announced that Terrance will be stripped of his captaincy and Scottish midfielder John McGuinness will take over the captaincy. Terrance said he was happy to be pinched by Sherratt, and would take Villa's interests as his priority.

An official statement from Villa said John McGuinness replaces Tyrone Mings as captain, with goalkeeper Damien Martinez as vice-captain and Ashley Younger taking on club captaincy duties. Sherratt said: "John McGuinness has shown in matches and practices that he is capable of being captain and is well liked by his teammates. I will explain the decision to Tyrone Mings and I believe that by relinquishing the captaincy responsibility, he will be able to focus more on improving his own performance," said Sherratt.

Terrance also said on social media: "I don't have any problem with the decision to lead the team. Anyone who knows McGuinty knows that he's infectious and it's an honor to play under his leadership. It doesn't matter who is the captain, the most important thing is to benefit Aston Villa.
