Born in Barcelona, Piqué is a retired Spanish professional footballer. He played almost his entire career for La Liga club Barcelona as a center back. It is worth noting that Piqué's maternal grandfather was a Barcelona
of Vice President Andréo Bernabéu.
On July 1, 2004, Manchester United of the Premier League brought in Gerard Piqué from Barcelona. He made his debut for Manchester United in a cup match on October 26, 2004 against Crewe. He looked particularly impressive in the reserve team, for which he won a new contract with Manchester United, effective in February 2005 until the summer of 2009. On August 4, 2006, La Liga side Real Zaragoza acquired Pique on a season-long loan.
In 2008, Piqué returned to his parent club Barcelona and became one of the club's mainstays, taking the field in the 2008-2009 UEFA Champions League final at Rome's Stadio Olimpico to win the title for his parent team over another former club, Manchester United.On February 26, 2010, FC Barcelona announced on its official website that it had renewed Piqué's contract until June 2015. His liquidated damages skyrocketed from €50 million to €200 million, while his annual salary also received a large boost.

Piqué made his national team debut in a friendly against England's representative team, playing the whole match and helping his team win 2-0. After that he became a fixture in the Spanish national team, although he didn't become an absolute starter until after his predecessor Peyol quit the national team.
