Who are the stars of Costa Rica?

When you think of Costa Rica fans think of the Galaxy's second generation starting goalkeeper, Navas. And Costa Rica's leading scorer, Rolando Fonseca. Celso Borges, Brian Ruiz, and Paulo Wanchope are all from Costa Rica.

Navas:

With his performance at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, Real Madrid bought him for €10 million in the 2014 summer transfer window. Navas has excellent reflexes and is adept at making clearances and saving penalties (he has saved 10 of the 20 penalties he has faced in his La Liga career, and, along with Alves, is the only two goalkeepers in the 2010s to have maintained a save rate of 40% or more in La Liga after facing more than 10 penalties). During his time at Real Madrid, he won three consecutive Champions League titles as a starting goalkeeper. Navas is an energetic goalkeeper known for his agility, speed and athleticism, as well as possessing quick reflexes and excellent saves, which allows him to compensate for his relatively short height. He has also been praised in the media for his decisive performances in important matches, as well as for creating difficulties and making key saves for his team at crucial moments.

Rolando Fonseca:

He could play as a defender or a shadow striker, a classic No. 7 in Costa Rica's history, physically average but technically refined. Although he never played in the Europa League, not many people would have doubted this player's exceptional ability. From 1992 to 2011, he scored 47 goals in 113 matches for Costa Rica, making him Costa Rica's all-time leading scorer.

Celso Boggs:

Longtime Costa Rica captain Celso Bogues has had a successful European career as a starter for La Coruna in La Liga for several seasons and has a well-balanced style of play.

Brian Ruiz:

He played for Gent in the Bundesliga, Twente in the Dutch Liga, Fulham in the English Premier League, PSV in the Dutch Liga, Sporting Portugal in the Portuguese Premier League, and Santos in the Barcelona Liga, etc. The 09-10 season was Bryan Ruiz's peak season and fame season. That year, he scored 24 goals in the Dutch League, ranking second in the top scorer list, behind Ajax winger Luis Suarez who scored 35 goals at that time. He had a tall profile, a handsome face, and a once-imaginative spirit.

Paul Wanchope:

In 1996, at the age of 20, Wanchope chose to join the English league, playing for Derby County, West Ham United, Manchester City

three clubs, followed by a stint at Malaga in Spain. Towards the end of his career, he played in Qatar, Japan and the United States. As a tall striker, Paulo Wanchope was known for his speed and breakthroughs in the early part of his career, with a style of play that favored individualism, while in the middle and late part of his career, he was known for his opportunistic style of play that focused on grabbing points, and his individual headers were very powerful. In his heyday, Paul Wanchope was undoubtedly the core and star of the team.
