In England's 2-0 home win over Finland in the 2nd round of the UEFA Europa League group stage, Maduekai, who made his national team debut, was interviewed after the match, and he couldn't hide his excitement and joy as he shared his feelings and experiences.
Madouekei began by expressing his excitement at making his England debut: "I'm incredibly happy and proud to be making my first appearance for England. It's a moment I've been dreaming about for a long time and it's a big milestone in my career. It's been a very special week for me, the lads have been fantastic, the coaching staff and players have made me feel at home and I've been made to feel very welcome."
Speaking about his performance in the match, Maduekai said, "I tried my best to play my part on the field and create a threat for the team. It was an immense honor for me to be able to give Harry (Kane) an assist on his 100th appearance for England. It was fitting that Harry was able to score two goals, it was his night and a joint effort from our whole team."
Maduekai also spoke about the chemistry with his teammates, "It's been a lot of fun working with Harry, he's a top player and if you give him the ball he always handles it in the most logical way and creates chances for you. At the same time, Stones, Declan (Rice), Jack (Gralish) and the rest of the team are all really good and it's great to play together. It's a great bunch of lads and I'm delighted to be playing alongside them."
Finally, Madouekei looked to his future: "This game is a new beginning for me and I will continue to work hard to improve my abilities and contribute more to the team. I can't wait to get back to Chelsea and continue to perform there and try to win more honors for the club. At the same time, I'm looking forward to my next opportunity to play for the national team and hopefully contribute to England again."
