After last weekend's charity match between Manchester United Legends and Celtic Legends, former Manchester United player Nicky Butt was interviewed by United officials and spoke highly of this summer's new signing, Ugarte. Bart said that he noticed Ugarte's performance as early as last year and believes that the new recruit is exactly the type of player that United desperately needs.
"I had the chance to see Ugarte play some last year and I was very impressed with his performance." Bart said, "I think he is the kind of midfielder United have been looking for. He has very flexible legs and a strong attacking sense, and I believe his addition can significantly improve our midfield."
For the current problems in the midfield of Manchester United, Bart also bluntly pointed out: "Although we have a lot of talented players in the midfield and forward line, but we still have some deficiencies in the defensive end. Especially when the opponent launches a counterattack, we tend to leave too much space for the opponent. I hope Ugarte's arrival will change that, and his defensive ability and tactical awareness will be an important addition to our defensive midfield."
Speaking about Ugarte's position in the United squad, Bart said, "I'm sure the club brought Ugarte in with the clear intention of having him play the 'do the dirty work' role on the pitch, doing jobs that others may not want to do but are vital to the team. His arrival will greatly enhance the defensive rigidity and coverage area of our midfield and provide stronger protection for the backline."
In addition, Bart also talked about the feelings of the weekend's charity match: "It's a great honor for me to be able to put on the United shirt again and play alongside my former teammates at Old Trafford. It was my dream as a child and I am very happy and satisfied to be able to realize it now at the age of 49. Thank you to Manchester United for organizing such a meaningful match and giving us the opportunity to be together again."
