In a rare appearance on a podcast recently, Arsenal midfield general Jorginho shared his thoughts on becoming a coach as a career, revealing his transformation from rejection to love.
Jorginho admits that as early as when he was 18-19 years old, friends and family around him started suggesting that he should become a coach in the future. However, at the time, he was not a fan of this suggestion and even found it a bit baffling. He thought he still had a long career ahead of him to play soccer and there was absolutely no need to think about transitioning into coaching. As time went by, Jorginho gradually realized the enormous effort required to become a coach, which strengthened his determination not to go down that path.
However, fate is always full of variables. After arriving at Arsenal, Jorginho was asked if he would like to try his hand at coaching. At first, he refused the offer without hesitation, but as time went by, he gradually developed a strong interest in the role of coach. The first time he was involved in a team training session, Jorginho felt a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment that he had never felt before. He was surprised to find himself falling in love with the feeling of being on the sidelines coaching the players, and the joy of seeing the team progressing according to his expectations and the players realizing their potential was something he was deeply addicted to.
Jorginho also said that the sport of soccer is always evolving and changing, with each period presenting its own unique challenges and opportunities. Looking back on his career, he said with great emotion that the world of soccer never stops moving forward. Therefore, he believes that he will continue to strive to learn and grow in the coming days to better adapt to this ever-changing world.
Today, Jorginho is no longer the same player who was repulsed by the role of coach. On the contrary, he has fully integrated into this new role and enjoys growing and improving together with his players. For the future, he is full of expectation and confidence that he can go farther and more stable on the path of coaching.
